Spring ISD’s first barbering program will open its own academy with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 9 from 9-10 a.m. at Westfield High School, 16713 Ella Blvd., Houston, district officials announced in a Nov. 4 news release. The academy will host students training for their barber’s license through the district’s four-year program, which features courses on customer service and barbering techniques.
The program was launched during the 2020-21 school year at Westfield High School with 14 enrolled students enrolled. The program is a collaboration between SISD’s career and technical education department and local barber and SISD alumnus Eros Shaw.
