At a Nov. 9 ribbon-cutting, Spring ISD’s first barbering program opened its own academy at Westfield High School, 16713 Ella Blvd., Houston, district officials announced in a Nov. 9 press release. The academy will host students training for their barber’s license through the district’s four-year program, which features courses on customer service and barbering techniques.

The program is a collaboration between SISD’s career and technical education department and local barber and SISD alumnus Eros Shaw. The program was launched during the 2020-21 school year at Westfield High School with 14 students enrolled. In the 2021-22 school year, the program has 25 students enrolled. 281-891-6200. www.springisd.org/Domain/60
