Both calendar options, which have been endorsed by the SISD Advisory Committee on Education and align with SISD’s District of Innovation designation, have the school year beginning Aug. 17 and ending May 28—prior to Memorial Day. Both options also offer short calendar breaks throughout the year and include two Parent Involvement Days.
According to a Jan. 6 news release, the proposed calendar Option 2 will designate Veterans Day as a districtwide holiday—a change based on feedback received during the 2019-20 school year.
Both calendar options and the survey results will be presented to the SISD board of trustees for consideration at its Jan. 14 meeting.
