The Texas Education Agency released financial accountability ratings in December and Lamar Consolidated ISD was one of the districts that received a successful final rating for fiscal year 2016-17.
Lamar CISD received an "A" letter grade, a financial management rating of "Superior" and a total score of 96 out of a possible 100.
The FY 2016-17 rates are based on annual financial reports that the TEA analyzes for over 1,200 school districts and charter schools throughout the state. The School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) was created in 2001 by the 77th Texas Legislature and is designed to encourage public schools to better manage their financial resources, according to a press release from the TEA.
The ratings are based on 15 financial indicators that include administrative cost expenditures, the accuracy of a district's financial information and financial vulnerabilities.
