H-E-B's first Richmond-area location is set to open 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 23500 Berry Parkway off FM 762 and Hwy. 59.
The 100,000-square-foot store offers fresh produce, dairy, flowers, H-E-B Organics items, Central Market products and H-E-B’s signature line of Primo Picks. Store representatives said at an unveiling Tuesday afternoon that the Richmond store was created with the needs of the community in mind.
"No H-E-B store looks alike … they are all uniquely different," said Cyndy Garza, H-E-B director for public affairs. "We listen to what customers would like to see, what they want and that’s when we start building the store."
Garza said the Richmond location offers expanded departments such as the floral department, healthy living department, pet department and an expanded H-E-B Meal Simple department for families on the go wanting to eat healthy.
On behalf of the store, Garza presented Lamar CISD board of trustees President James Steenbergen with a check for $5,000 for LCISD's Common Threads program.
"Every time we open a new store, we try and identify an agency within the community that we can help make things just a little bit easier," Garza said. "We would like to present the school district with 5,000 so these kiddos can have nice clothes to go to school in."
The new store will open 6 a.m. tomorrow, and it offers curbside pick-up services and a drive-thru pharmacy that will both be ready by opening day.
"We are going to throw the biggest party Richmond has ever had tomorrow morning at 6 a.m.," said Juan Alonso, vice president of the Richmond-H-E-B store. "We are very proud to open up the store here."
