County officials will vote on a new mobility bond in August. This will be the fourth mobility bond for Fort Bend  County. The first bond was in 2000, with the second and third in 2007 and 2013, respectively.

According to the Fort Bend County engineering department, many of the projects proposed in the 2013 bond have passed the preliminary stages and will soon go into construction.

Cities have been asked to compile a list of projects that would be most beneficial to help determine what will be covered by the bond. The commissioners will consider all information received from the community, but safety is the key concern when choosing projects and allocating funds. Areas with high population density and large amounts of congestion will help determine project priorities.
