County property owners should have received their property tax bills by the end of November, according to the Fort Bend County tax office. In a statement, county Tax Assessor-Collector Patsy Schultz said tax bills were mailed out Nov. 7-11.
The Fort Bend Central Appraisal District said there were approximately 900 properties identified as damaged by the record Memorial Day flooding earlier this year. Those property owners received an insert with their tax bill explaining their eligibility for a quarterly payment program because of delays in calculating disaster-adjusted property values, Schultz said.
Owners of damaged properties will receive a disaster-adjusted value on the property, which will be certified by the FBCAD. Once the adjusted valuations are certified, Shultz said a corrected tax bill will be mailed to the property owner.
