While the Brazoria County Office of Emergency Management is continuing to monitor Hurricane Laura, the county is expecting the storm's effect on the county to be minimal due to the latest predictions from the National Weather Service, according to a press release from the county.

The county could experience wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and a storm surge of 2-4 feet, with very little rain, according to the press release.

The county asks that residents continue to monitor the storm, according to the release.
