The city of Pearland approved a design contract for the Sherwood subdivision, the last street project to be started from the previous 2019 bond.

The Sherwood subdivision street reconstruction program was approved in Proposition B from the 2019 bond program, which allocated $34.8 million for various street improvement projects. The City Council aimed to start or complete all projects in the bond within five years of its passage.

Some streets in the subdivision will undergo concrete replacement and drainage improvements. A waterline in the area will also be replaced.

The contract, approved Feb. 20, will cost approximately $782,000 and was awarded to Cobb Fendley & Associates, Inc. The construction is projected to cost $4.3 million, according to city documents.

Interim City Manager Trent Epperson said the design is expected to take about 12 months, and the construction is expected to take slightly longer.
