The city of Pearland is now the home of the first optometry office in the U.S. to feature a Zeiss Vision Experience, a concept that puts the office’s technology on center stage for patients.

The Pearland Chamber of Commerce, Zeiss Vision Care leaders and friends of Drs. Joseph and Mary Nguyen gathered at 1930 Pearland Parkway, Ste. 160, Pearland, to celebrate the opening of the new Eye Care Leaders location, the third in the Greater Houston area.

“I would love to see Pearland come out to support us,” Mary Nguyen said.

The new location, like many optometry offices, is surrounded by various lenses when one walks through the doors, but with a modern twist.

The Pearland Parkway office has an eyeball design to the right of the entrance door and glass panels where the eye exam machines are. The purpose for the glass is so patients can see the technology that will be used for their exams from the lobby, said Philipp Novak, Zeiss Vision Care’s head of global brand experience.

“Unlike in many other [locations], here we do not hide technology because we want to have the technology as kind of a visual counter weight to the very overwhelming amount of frames that you usually see at an optical [location],” Novak said.

Zeiss Vision Care’s global headquarters is in Germany. The company started in 1846 and also produces lenses for photography, cinematography and hunting equipment, according to its website.

Eye Care Leaders is independently owned and run by Joseph and Mary Nguyen. Zeiss Vision Care provided the design for the location, and Eye Care Leaders will sell Zeiss Vision Care lenses. Eye Care Leaders on July 30 is hosting a grand opening celebration.

“It is a very successful concept globally,” said Jens Boy, Zeiss Vision North America president. “We are very excited to have it not just in the U.S. but also here in Pearland, Texas, because Texas is our most important market.” 713-947-8738. www.eyecareleaders.net
