As Manvel city officials continue to discuss the city’s fiscal year 2024-25 budget, the city hopes to gather community feedback at an upcoming budget town hall meeting.

The details

Manvel will host a budget town hall at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 for residents at City Hall, 20031 Morris Ave., Manvel. The town hall follows the city’s Planning, Development & Zoning Commission meeting.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for Manvel residents to learn about the city’s budget, the proposed tax rate and the inner workings of municipal budgets, according to a Sept. 3 news release from the city.

The town hall also comes after a public hearing was held on the budget at Manvel City Council’s Sept. 3 meeting, which nobody spoke at.

Community Impact previously reported that Manvel city officials are considering a tax rate of $0.56 per $100 valuation, the same as the previous year, to maintain the lowest tax rate Manvel has had in a decade.

What you need to know

The city is encouraging residents to submit their budget questions ahead of the meeting at the city's website. At the end of the meeting, city officials will address questions asked by residents.

One more thing

City Council will vote on both its budget and tax rate at its Sept. 16 meeting. The city’s new fiscal year will begin Oct. 1, budget documents show.
