The overview
The Old Town Revitalization Plan will be a strategic document that outlines the goals, actions, timeline and cost of improving the Old Town area, which is in the central part of Pearland, according to the project website.
The plan will be developed through the survey, as well as a visioning process for the public and an economic assessment, according to the project website.
The 15-minute survey has 30 questions with some of the following topics:
- How often a resident visits Old Town
- Where a resident visits in Old Town, such as restaurants, stores, employment spaces, etc.
- Rating features of Old Town, such as cleanliness, safety and parking availability, among other features
- What the resident values most about Old Town, such as economic development, appearance and future growth
The project is funded by the Pearland Economic Development Corporation, or PEDC, and will be a nine-month-long planning effort that will create strategic goals and actions around the following topics:
- Development and urban design
- Streets and mobility
- Infrastructure and transportation
- Parks and open space
The first phase included the project team analyzing the site and taking preliminary steps to establish roles and communication channels, as well as a brand for the project, according to the project’s website.
The discovery phase, which is what the project team is currently in, also includes seeking input from the Pearland community, according to the project’s website.
