Pearland City Council Member Gary Moore announced on his social media that he is no longer running for mayor. Moore posted: "I am unable and unwilling to run the type of race that I feel is acceptable." Moore also said that many factors played into the decision.

Moore has served two consecutive terms as a Pearland City Council member.

The mayoral election was going to be held in May, but it was moved due to COVID-19.
