With the calendar turning to June, children out of school and vacations coming up, there can be lulls during the downtime of summer.

Here are five activities and events across the Pearland and Friendswood area to help out in the months of June and July. This list is not comprehensive.

June 3, 10, 17 and 24: Concerts in the Park in Pearland

The city of Pearland will host Concerts in the Park at Independence Park each Friday in June, according to the Pearland Parks and Recreation department. Each Friday will see a different theme on the stage from a tribute to The Beatles night to country music. Food vendors will be on-site, and the playground will be available for the children to use. July 4: Celebration of Freedom


Pearland residents will be encouraged to head to Independence Park to celebrate the Fourth of July. The event will include live music from the variety band Adrian Michael and the Greenway Band, and it will end with a fireworks display. June 3, 10, 17 and 24: Concerts in the Park in Friendswood

Similar to the city’s neighbors in the west, Friendswood each Friday in June will host its own version of Concerts in the Park at the gazebo at Stevenson Park. Events will take place on June 3, and the theme will be a '70s rock experience; on June 10, the theme is Tejano and Latin music; June 17 will be a Guns N' Roses tribute; and an Eagles tribute will take place on June 24. All concerts are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to bring blankets, food, lawn chairs and drinks. July 4: Freedom For One and All


The city of Friendswood will host Freedom For One and All on July 4th all day long across the city. The festivities will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. on Friendswood Drive from Heritage Drive to Stevenson Park. Stevenson Park will have rides, games, food and entertainment beginning at 11 a.m.. Friendswood’s celebration will continue into the evening at Centennial Park at 2200 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, and there will be a fireworks show beginning at roughly 9:20 p.m., according to the city. 10 a.m.Free (admission). Stevenson Park, 1100 S. Fridays July 15-Aug. 5: Movies in the Park

Friendswood will hold its Movies in the Park event every Friday night from July 15-Aug. 5 at the Centennial Park Amphitheatre. The city’s slate of movies is "Paw Patrol The Movie" on July 15, "Encanto" on July 22, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" on July 29 and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" on Aug. 5.
