Friendswood ISD’s 2020 construction bond projects are wrapping up and nearing completion for the 2024-25 school year.

The gist

The last projects for the 2020 bond were conducted at Friendswood High School. According to district documents, the following projects at the high school were completed as of Aug. 5:
  • Gym addition
  • Performing Arts Center addition
  • Band, engineering and choir space renovations
  • Culinary and audiovisual studio renovations
The details

Along with additions and renovations to the high school, the $127 million construction bond, approved in November 2020, allowed the district to undergo major additions and renovations in other campuses, including:
  • A new elementary school in the West Ranch subdivision
  • 4-6 classroom additions at Windsong Intermediate, Bales Intermediate and Westwood Elementary
The bond projects at New Cline Elementary, Westwood Elementary, Bales Intermediate and Windsong Intermediate have been completed as well, according to a presentation provided by the district.

Projects included a new music room at Westwood Elementary, a new learning space for Bales Intermediate and a new playground at Windsong Intermediate, among other projects, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The only project that has not been completed at the high school is renovations to the existing boys gym space, which is expected to be completed by Aug. 19, according to district documents.
