In recognition of 40 years of service, Alvin ISD will honor a bus driver with its Employee of the Year Award.

Peggy Worrell, one of AISD’s longest-serving bus drivers, will be honored with the award at the Alvin ISD Employee Recognition Ceremony on May 11. Worrell has been driving Alvin ISD school buses for 40 years. The district named her Transportation Employee of the Year in recognition of her dedication and service, according to a news release.

“Peggy is an inspiration to all of us,” AISD Director of Transportation Greg Bingham said in the news release. “Her unwavering dedication to our students and her colleagues is remarkable, and we are proud to honor her as our Transportation Employee of the Year.”

Worrell began her career as a bus driver for AISD in 1981 and drives a special education bus.

“I love my job, and I love the students,” Worrell said in the release. “I feel blessed to be able to do what I do every day.”
