At the Tuesday night meeting, Alvin ISD came to a decision regarding the Massey Ranch boundary dispute. The board also awarded the contract for Elementary School #20, setting the construction process in motion. 1. Massey Ranch boundary adjustment approved The Massey Ranch development is now completely zoned to Alvin ISD. The development, which will bring nearly 1,000 homes into Pearland, was previously split between Pearland ISD and AISD. “Alvin ISD, along with the city of Pearland and Pearland ISD engaged in conversations largely focused on limiting the confusion associated with having a neighborhood divided by school district boundary lines,” board President Nicole Tonini said after the item passed. 2. Construction contract for Elementary School No. 20 awarded to Brookstone Construction The AISD school board awarded a contract of almost $17.6 million to Brookstone Construction for the construction of Bel Nafegar Sanchez Elementary School, formerly known as Elementary School No. 20. Brookstone Construction will break ground in the next three to four weeks, according to Jeffrey Couvillion, executive director of bond planning and building programs. The school is set to open in the fall of 2019.
