Brazoria County reported 24 new COVID-19 cases and 13 recoveries on May 13. Ten of the new cases are TDCJ inmates are five are classified as probable.

The Texas Department of State Health Services updated the case definitions for the new coronavirus on May 11 to include probable cases. The definition of a probably COVID-19 case is one that meets both clinical criteria, like fever, shortness of breath and headaches, and epidemiological linkage criteria, such as being exposed to a COVID-19 case in the 14 days prior to symptoms appearing, without a confirmed laboratory test.

There are now 339 active coronavirus cases in Brazoria County as well as 362 recoveries and 9 deaths. This brings the total case count to 710.

Four of the cases reported on May 13 are Pearland residents.
