The Texas Department of State Health Services updated the case definitions for the new coronavirus on May 11 to include probable cases. The definition of a probably COVID-19 case is one that meets both clinical criteria, like fever, shortness of breath and headaches, and epidemiological linkage criteria, such as being exposed to a COVID-19 case in the 14 days prior to symptoms appearing, without a confirmed laboratory test.
There are now 339 active coronavirus cases in Brazoria County as well as 362 recoveries and 9 deaths. This brings the total case count to 710.
Four of the cases reported on May 13 are Pearland residents.
