Windsong Care Center in Pearland has reported eight positive cases of COVID-19, with seven being residents and one an employee.

One resident has been hospitalized, and the other six are recovering in isolation.

To contain the spread of COVID-19 within the nursing and rehabilitation facility, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Brazoria County Health Department are testing all residents and employees.

Windsong has contacted each resident’s representative to keep them informed on the situation and is following Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive orders prohibiting visitors at nursing homes to protect vulnerable populations.

These seven resident cases accounted for the majority of the nine new positive cases reported by Brazoria County on May 3.
