Next year, the city of Pearland could change the way it notifies citizens about city updates thanks to proposed amendments voters will consider in May.

What happened

Pearland City Council listened to a public hearing to discuss a new amendments to the city charter, which was last updated in 2020, according to the city’s website.

The amendemt suggested by the 2025 Charter Review Commission involves allowing notices currently requiring newspaper publication to be potentially published by other means, such as on the city’s website, according to agenda documents.


Looking ahead

In February, City Council will consider a resolution calling for a special election to take place in May for the proposed charter amendments.
