Updated 8:40 p.m. The tornado warning issued earlier this evening for portions of Brazoria County has expired, according to the National Weather Service in Houston. Posted 8:20 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued through 9 p.m. Tuesday evening for Galveston, eastern Fort Bend, eastern Brazoria and southeast Harris counties, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS also issued a tornado warning for east central Brazoria County until 8:30 p.m. as thunderstorms roll through the Greater Houston area. As of roughly 8:07 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near the Friendswood area and moving east at 45 mph, according to the NWS. Damage to roofs, trees and siding may be expected due to the storm. Thousands of Houston-area residents are without power as of 8:15 p.m.

A flood advisory is in effect for areas near Pearland and Friendswood until 9:30 p.m.
