Zachry-Odebrecht continues work on the three contiguous segments—F-1, F-2 and G—of Houston’s third outer loop. The segments stretch from Hwy. 290 to Hwy. 59. Several lanes and ramps are closed for construction. Closures for the summer include the I-45 northbound exit at Spring Crossing Drive and the Hardy Toll Road, the I-45 northbound frontage road left lane at Spring Stuebner Road, and the I-45 northbound right shoulder from the Spring Stuebner Road entrance ramp to exit No. 72. The northbound and southbound lanes of Rocky Road will be closed until noon

2. Aldine Westfield Road widening


Harris County is expanding Aldine Westfield Road from a two-lane asphalt roadway to a four-lane thoroughfare from East Louetta Road to Riley Fuzzel Road. Utility relocations will begin once the clearing contractor has removed obstructions from the right of way. In the bid phase, the project was recommended by Precinct 4 to be awarded to the lowest bidder at Commissioners Court on Aug. 11.

3. Hardy Toll Road expansion


The Harris County Toll Road Authority has begun work on the first extensive overhaul in the history of the Hardy Toll Road, which runs from Loop 610 to I-45. The work will be done in phases with a total of nine construction contracts and will be completed in late 2016. The project includes adding a third lane of the tollway in each direction from FM 1960 to the Grand Parkway as well as four single-lane direct connectors with the Grand Parkway. Other improvements include re-signing and restriping; installation of new guardrails; and drainage, pavement and bridge structural repairs.

4. Spring Cypress Road widening


Spring Cypress Road was widened to five lanes from I-45 to Lexington Boulevard. Originally planned for completion Sept. 27, Contractor Angel Brothers Construction completed it ahead of schedule July 29.

5. T.C. Jester signal installation


Harris County and TxDOT are installing traffic lights at 10 intersections along
T.C. Jester Boulevard between FM 1960 and FM 2920 in Spring. Harris County is funding 20 percent of the project while TxDOT is funding the remaining 80 percent.

6. Veterans Memorial Drive improvements


Harris County plans to make several improvements to Veterans Memorial Drive from Beltway 8 to FM 1960. Projects include the installation of missing segments of the turn lane from West Green Road to FM 1960 as well as traffic signal upgrades and intersection improvements. Engineering design, permitting, right of way acquisition, utility relocations and a construction timeline will be determined once funding for the project is identified.
