Woodlands area voters have a chance to vote early on the Montgomery County road bond, while Oak Ridge North residents can head to the polls early to vote in their city council election.

Voters can begin casting their early ballots April 27 through May 5. Election Day is May 9.

Montgomery County Elections Administrator Suzie Harvey said votes cast during the early voting period will likely amount to about 50 percent of the total vote for this year's election.

"It's more convenient for a lot of voters because there are more days to choose from to vote," Harvey said. "Unlike Election Day when voters cast their ballots in a specific precinct during set hours, early voters can choose to vote in any early voting location in Montgomery County."

The $350 million road bond election includes 77 projects throughout Montgomery County that were selected for mobility improvements.

The Oak Ridge North City Council election includes races for Positions 2 and 4. Running for Position 2 are Belinda Sipp and incumbent Clint McClaren. Running for Position 4 are Richard Barlow and Bruce Bernhoft. The terms for City Council are two years.

Voters in Montgomery County can vote at any early voting location. The closest locations for The Woodlands residents to vote early are the South County Community Building at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive, room 102 in The Woodlands, and Generations Church north entrance at 405 Rayford Road in Spring.

Poll hours are April 27-May 2, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and May 4-5, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Early voting for Oak Ridge North is April 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and April 28-May 4 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on weekdays only. The last day to vote early is May 5, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. The voting location for Oak Ridge North is at City Hall at 27424 Robinson Road.
