Houston Methodist West Hospital is expanding its footprint in the Katy community with a new emergency care center set to open at FM 1093 and Cinco Rose Drive next spring.

Construction began in late August on the 9,600-square-foot facility, which will include 10 treatment rooms, radiology services, including CT scans, and lab services. All levels of emergencies will be treated at the new facility.

"The emergency care center will be staffed 24/7 with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and specially trained nurses, just as with our hospital's emergency department," said Virginia Gissel, senior marketing and media specialist with Houston Methodist West Hospital.

Gissel said the decision to expand in the Katy area is independent of emergency capacity at the hospital.

"We decided to expand our services based on the growing population needs in the Cinco Ranch/Fulshear area," she said. "We want to provide additional access to quality medical services closer to the residents living in the area."

The center will be located at 26000 FM 1093, Katy.
