After more than six months of community outreach, design submissions and reviews, a winner has been selected for the city of Missouri City's proposed veterans memorial.
From a total of six submissions, city staff chose a design by Lloyd Lentz, principal with LMA Design Houston. The design features a five-point star with a fountain and eternal flame at the center surrounded by several arched columns.
"The future memorial will honor veterans from the past, present and future and create a permanent tribute to the patriotic and courageous men and women who served this nation," Parks and Recreation Director Larry Foos said.
The city is considering three possible locations for the memorial project, which will be funded through public and private donations. Potential locations include Community Park at 1700 Glenn Lakes Lane, American Legion Park at 4015 Lexington Blvd. and City Hall at 1522 Texas Parkway.
