Frank Briscoe is the projected Democratic candidate for U.S. Representative District 22 with 53.23 percent of 6,344 votes with 157 of 157 precincts reporting, according to unofficial results.

Briscoe will join the race against incumbent Pete Olson (R) and Libertarian candidate Rob Lapham for the Nov. 4 election.

Frank Briscoe has taken the lead over Mark Gibson with 59.73 percent—or 2,004 votes—of the early and absentee, according to unofficial results.

After graduating from Cornell University, Briscoe found a job with the National Park Service where he worked to conserve a variety of historic sites in the northeast U.S. He has been a small business owner for more than 20 years working as an architectural conservator. Briscoe is the son of former Harris County District Attorney Frank Briscoe Sr., who passed away in early 2011.

Gibson is a small business owner specializing in IT management and served 27 years as a colonel in the U.S. Military Medical Service Branch. He received a BBA in management information systems from the University of Houston and a master's in strategic studies from U.S. Army War College is Carlisle, Penn.

The winner of the District 22 race will face off against Pete Olson (R) Nov. 4. Olson was elected as U.S. Representative in 2008. He lives in Sugar Land with his wife and two children.

District 22 covers Sugar Land and Missouri City as well as areas of Fort Bend and Galveston counties. Texas representatives serve two- to four-year terms.
