The Woodlands Development Company has announced that construction has begun on Hughes Landing's first apartment complex, One Lake's Edge, that could bring 390 multifamily residences to the 66-acre mixed use development in early 2015.

Located along Lake Woodlands, One Lake's Edge will offer panoramic views of the lake with shopping, dining and entertainment venues nearby in Hughes Landing. The luxury apartments will offer one, one-plus-study, two and three-bedroom designs at an average of 984 square feet. Pre-leasing is planned for fall 2014 for the eight-story, 825,000-square-foot complex, with occupancy scheduled for early 2015, according to a press release.

One Lake's Edge will provide several amenities, including a fitness center, oversized pool deck, show kitchen and a club room with an elevated patio overlooking Lake Woodlands, as well as 22,000 square feet of retail development on the ground floor. A pet friendly complex, One Lake's Edge will offer wood floors, stainless steel gas appliances, granite countertops, roller shades and Nest thermostats, as well as an on-site wash station, kayak and bike storage and covered parking.

"These luxury apartment homes help fulfill our vision for Hughes Landing to be a vibrant waterfront community within The Woodlands–an exciting hub where people can live, work and play," said Paul Layne, executive vice president of master planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corporation. "We are extremely encouraged by the interest and excitement surrounding the project, from the pace of leasing of the first office building, One Hughes Landing, in only 10 months along with several new eateries, including Escalante's Fine Tex-Mex & Tequila and Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar, that will soon be underway."

One Hughes Landing, Hughes Landing's first, eight-story commercial building, opened in September. Construction continues on Two Hughes Landing, which broke ground in June with completion scheduled for spring 2014. The mixed-use development could feature up to 11 office buildings, up to 800 multifamily residences, an upscale hotel, a fitness center, restaurants and other retail development.
