Unofficial results from the Tomball City Council elections are in and incumbents Mark Stoll and Derek Townsend Sr. have each been reelected for a three-year term.

Stoll, winner of the Position 2 race, received 608 votes, while his opponent Barbara Tague received 323 votes.

"I feel the reason I was reelected is that what I told the people three years ago I'd do, I've done, and I think they validated that with this election," Stoll said. "I look forward to serving for another three years."

Stoll said his priorities going into his next term will be to continue to work on some of the infrastructure projects that need to be completed in the city, as well as revising ordinances to make it easier for businesses to open and expand in Tomball.

"I also plan to continue to work on getting Tomball exempted from participating in the North Harris County Regional Water Authority," he said.

Townsend, winner of the Position 4 seat, received 505 votes, while challenger Jeffie Cappadonna earned 453 votes.

"I feel vindicated, and it just shows me that good guys can win," Townsend said. "I want to say thank you so much [to my supporters] for having faith in me and for getting out and supporting me, voting for me and praying for me. Now let's get on with city business and make Tomball a great place to live."

In his next term, Townsend said he would like to look at the city's charter and set up a review board of citizens to update and review the document as needed.

"I want to continue to work with the citizens to do the things we need to do," he said. "I've watched Tomball grow and it's getting better here. I want to [support] our employees to continue doing the great job they're doing."

This year, 965 residents voted in the election, which is a 17.5 percent turnout based on Tomball's 5,474 registered voters. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Tomball City Council members serve three-year, staggered terms. The next council meeting is at 7 p.m. May 21.
