The Woodlands Township will hold two public meetings this month that will provide residents of The Woodlands an opportunity to take part in the ongoing governance study. The township is currently conducting the study ahead of a potential 2014 vote to determine if The Woodlands will remain a township or incorporate as a city.

The first meeting will be March 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The John Cooper School at One John Cooper Drive. The second meeting will be March 31 from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Woodlands Emergency Training Center at 16135 I-45 South.

These meetings will give attendees the opportunity to review the township's gap analysis study and financial model. The gap analysis study, presented and approved by the township's board of directors in the fall, includes the additional services and employees positions The Woodlands would need to create should the community become incorporated.

The financial model includes projections regarding property tax and cost estimates for The Woodlands under incorporation.

The upcoming meetings will provide residents of The Woodlands with a chance to provide their feedback to the township executive team and directors. Registration for the forums will close at noon on March 28. Residents may register at the township's website at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov or by calling Kim Cogburn at 281-210-3800.
