Radiate Coalition—a nonprofit helping survivors of abuse, trafficking and exploitation as well as young women who have aged out of the foster care system—will be opening a home in New Caney, Executive Director Bevin Caramello said in a March 16 email. The property will be called Shepherd's Field and will provide long-term housing for 23 women.
Originally operating in Honduras, Radiate Coalition aims to help women through faith-based Christian programs, Caramello said. Programs that will be offered at Shepherd’s Field include:
- Medical and dental care
- Trauma-informed psychological care
- Education
- Discipleship
- Mentorship
- Nutrition
Women ages 18 and older in the program will be expected to uphold standards after entering the Radiate Coalition program, including remaining sober, abstaining from sex, being employed part-time and continuing their education, Caramello said.
The new Shepherd’s Field home will be opened in a building that was donated to the nonprofit, Caramello said. The remodel will kick off this spring, and work will include creating private bedrooms and improving the shared bathrooms and kitchen.
