About the project
Roman Forest Police Chief Stephen Carlisle said the grant will be used to help fund the construction of a roughly $350,000, 2,000-square-foot addition to the department’s police station on Roman Forest Boulevard.
“We needed office space for the police department because we’re a growing department, growing city,” Carlisle said, noting the department has been housed in the same facility since 1996. “We’ve added more and more space throughout the years, but we’ve outgrown it.”
Some context
Carlisle noted the grant was paid out in two installments in late 2024 and early 2025 by the Tavola Community Foundation, a local nonprofit representing the Tavola neighborhood located just outside Roman Forest.
While Carlisle said the city has invested in several upgrades and renovations at the station since 1996, he said the city’s rapidly growing population necessitated the new addition.
According to data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, Roman Forest’s population rose from 1,555 residents in 2018 to 2,832 in 2023, a roughly 82% increase.
What's next
While the project is still in the architectural design phase, Carlisle said officials are aiming to begin construction by the end of 2025. Carlisle said the department will have a better idea of a construction timeline once the design is completed and the project goes out to bid.
