A groundbreaking ceremony for a new dog park in New Caney was held by the East Montgomery County Improvement District on April 23, according to a Facebook post from the district.

The details

The dog park is one part of a 200-acre park the district has planned. EMCID recently closed on a final piece of property for the space, according to a March newsletter from the district.

According to EMCID’s website, the larger park project will be completed in two phases, and encompass features such as:
  • Areas for small and large dogs
  • A playground
  • A bicycle playground/pump track
  • A canopy walk
  • A covered shelter
  • Parking for visitors
  • Restrooms
Eventually, biking and walking trails as well as gardens to host wildlife are expected to be added, as previously reported by Community Impact. The project was first announced in May 2022.
