The East Montgomery County Improvement District’s dog park is expected to open in New Caney this summer, said Kelley Mattlage, vice president and chief communications officer of EMCID, in a March 20 email. At the beginning of this year, work to clear old structures from the property began.

According to EMCID’s website, the dog park is part of a larger park project that will be completed in two phases, and encompass features such as:
  • Areas for small and large dogs
  • A playground
  • A bicycle playground/pump track
  • A canopy walk
  • A covered shelter
  • Parking for visitors
  • Restrooms
Eventually, biking and walking trails as well as gardens to host wildlife are expected to be added, as previously reported by Community Impact. The project was first announced in May 2022.
  • Intersection of FM 1485 and Gene Campbell Boulevard, New Caney (exact address TBD)
