1. Humble ISD seeks community input on a potential 2018 bond
Humble ISD is creating a group of parents, residents and employees to advise the district in
planning for new schools and improvements to existing schools as it mulls a bond in 2018. The Citizens Bond Advisory Committee will begin with orientation Sept. 28 and feature once-monthly meetings between October and January. After attending the orientation, interested parties must commit to serve by Oct. 5.
2. CHI St. Luke’s Health plans facility in New Caney
CHI St. Luke’s Health will be the first tenant at Vivacity—a 186-acre medical district in New Caney at the intersection of Hwy. 59 and the Grand Parkway. The hospital system is still determining what size and scope of facility it will build in Vivacity, Signorelli Company marketing manager Alyssa McGuire said.
The medical district is being developed as part of the master-planned community Valley Ranch by The Woodlands-based real estate business the Signorelli Company. Vivacity will feature more than 2.5 million square feet of space—including a hospital—and wellness and life science facilities in addition to hospitality and retail options. Signorelli also expects to add trails and a 10-acre park to this portion of the development.
3. Tax-free shopping set for this weekend, Aug. 11-13
During the annual event, Texas shoppers do not have to pay sales taxes on various items, including most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced less than $100.

4. Popular restaurant Q-Shi searching for Atascocita location
Spring-based restaurant Q-Shi BBQ and Sushi—which was
featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” earlier this year—is looking into opening a bistro location in
the Lake Houston and Atascocita area, Alisha Jessa, public relations coordinator for Q-Shi BBQ and Bistro. No additional details are available for this location at this time. The announcement comes as several restaurants have
opened in the Lake Houston area this summer.
