Rain totals from are beginning to accumulate in the Lake Houston area as Tropical Storm Harvey continues to move inland. The rain totals in the Greater Houston area are adding up, which meteorologists forecast could lead to widespread flooding. Rainfall continues throughout the Houston area on Sunday, with more than 20 inches of rain in 24 hours reported in certain areas. A flash flood emergency warning has been extended until 1:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. While the San Jacinto River's intersections at Hwy. 59 and Kingwood Country Club have received more than 13 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, Garners Bayou near Hwy. 59 and Rankin road has received more than 16 inches during this timeframe, according to the Harris County Flood Control District. The Houston area has already seen several tornado warnings and confirmed tornado sightings, and rains are expected to continue overnight.
