Harris County has fewer physicians and registered nurses per 100,000 residents than nearby Montgomery County, according to 2019 data from Texas Health and Human Services. In fact, while the county's overall number of physicians and registered nurses increased between 2018-19, the number per 100,000 residents data decreased. This means the county's population increased at a faster rate than the number of new physicians and registered nurses.
