Harris County Precinct 2 expects to begin construction on Phase I of a 19-acre, yet-to-be-named park in the second quarter of 2018. Construction is projected to wrap up in early 2019, when it will also open to the public. The park will feature walking trails, a playground for children and multipurpose use fields. "As of right now, we are in the design phase of the project. We anticipate construction to be in two phases with a focus on getting the main infrastructure put in first," said Amery Reid, Communications Coordinator for Harris County Precinct 2. "This includes drainage, parking, and restrooms, as well as the trail, followed by pond outlooks, play areas, and a playground for the kids. We are still working on when each amenity will go in." Harris County Precinct 2 purchased the 19 acres in February to create the park in Atascocita. The property is located just south of the intersection of West Lake Houston and Will Clayton parkways and has a natural 2-acre pond on it. The county spent $4.3 million on the land purchase.
