How we got here
As previously reported by Community Impact, Position 2 incumbent Robert Scarfo, Position 6 incumbent Marques A. Holmes and Position 7 newcomer Michael Grabowski were each elected to their respective positions in the May 6 election after garnering 64.52%, 43.87% and 41.13% of the votes, respectively.
As previously reported by Community Impact, Holmes was first appointed as Position 6 trustee in 2021 through an application process when former Trustee Lori Twomey moved out of state. He defeated challengers Audra Deaver and Holly L. Ham in the May 6 election.
Meanwhile, Grabowski defeated incumbent Nancy S. Morrison as well as challengers Natalie Carter and Leigh S. Marcus in the May 6 election. Morrison, who was first elected to the HISD board of trustees in 2015, was honored for her eight years of service during the May 23 board meeting.
Scarfo was successfully re-elected after defeating challengers Asdrubal "Dru" Gutierrez, Reginald Spivey and Erin Greene in the May 6 election. He was first elected to the board in 2008.

The trustees will serve in these roles until they are up for election again in 2027.
