Roughly seven months after opening, officials with Kolache Shoppe announced the closure of its Kingwood bakery effective July 2.

Located at 4521 Kingwood Drive, the Kolache Shoppe franchise in Kingwood was opened by Randy and Lucy Hines in early December. The bakery offered 24 flavors of authentic Texas-Czech pastries, including fruit-filled and breakfast-style kolaches, in addition to coffee- and espresso-based beverages.

“We have nothing but respect and gratitude for our franchise partners, the employees who served at this location, and the community of Kingwood,” Randy Hines said in a statement. “To be successful and thrive, many factors must come together, and unfortunately, some of these factors did not align at this location.”

Kolache Shoppe has two additional Houston locations: one at 1031 Heights Blvd. and another at 3945 Richmond Ave. A third location is planned to open this summer at 11940 Broadway St., Ste. 170, Pearland. www.kolacheshoppe.com
