The upcoming May 4 election will feature a contested election for the city of Humble mayor and two contested elections for Humble ISD board of trustees positions.

In the city of Humble, Arliss Bentley is running for mayor against incumbent Merle Aaron, who was elected to his first term as mayor in 2015.

Meanwhile, incumbent Charles Curry is running unopposed for Humble City Council Position 1, and Glenn Redmon is running unopposed for Humble City Council Position 2. Longtime Humble City Council Member Ray Calfee did not seek re-election for Position 2.

In HISD, there are three board positions up for election with four candidates—Janie Branham, Ryan Engolio, Nikki Roux and Robert Scarfo—running for Position 2, none of whom is an incumbent.

Additionally, Lori Twomey and incumbent Colin Carney are running for Position 6, and incumbent Nancy Morrison is running unopposed for Position 7.

The filing period for residents interested in running closed Feb. 15. Residents who wish to vote in the election must register to do so by April 4. Residents can find more information on how to register to vote at www.votetexas.gov.
