Kingwood Photo Lab celebrated its 40th anniversary on July 15. When it first opened in 1985, the business operated in a small corner inside a supermarket, providing only photo printing services, owner Steve Khalaf said.

Now, the business provides a variety of photo-related services, including scanning, photo book printing, audio/video to physical media conversions, film processing, photo restoration and passport photos. Much of its work is custom-tailored to each customer’s needs.

“I’m proud of what I do,” Khalaf said. “A customer walks in here, wants something, we never say no. Name it and we can do it.”

The business almost closed after Hurricane Harvey, but kept running solely because of the support of the customers, Khalaf said.

“Thank you Kingwood for keeping us open,” Khalaf said. “If it wasn’t for the customers, [we wouldn’t] have survived. This is my home, and I want people to get their money’s worth.”
