Those nearby Grand Parkway, Katy Gaston Road and FM 723 will see cranes lifting steel beams into the skyline from Feb. 24-27 as road crews continue work along the Westpark Tollway interchange for the ongoing Grand Parkway connectors project.

There will be four road closures from Feb. 24-27 and continued closures during off-peak hours as well as weekends as construction continues into spring, said Lisa Castañeda, the deputy operating officer for the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority.

The FBCTRA will create two connector roads going east and westbound from Westpark Tollway to the Grand Parkway northbound, aimed to alleviate congestion for drivers entering the Grand Parkway via left turns from the eastbound road.

The total estimated budget for this project is $54 million, which includes design, right of way, utility adjustments and construction. The roadwork is expected to conclude summer 2024.

Castañeda listed the following roadway closures for the weekend of Feb. 24-27:
  • Grand Parkway southbound direct connector to eastbound Westpark Tollway will be closed.
  • Westpark Tollway eastbound main lanes between FM 723 and Grand Parkway and the eastbound frontage road between Katy Gaston Road and Grand Parkway will have a total closure. Follow roadway signage and lane closure barricades. Follow the detour signs to Katy Gaston Road to Bellaire Boulevard and back to Grand Parkway.
  • Westpark Tollway eastbound entrance ramp at Villa De Cani, located just east of FM 723, will also be closed.
