Mayvenn, a Black-owned beauty tech company, opened May 1 inside Walmart at 6060 N. Fry Road, Katy.

Mayvenn exists to guide and empower women of color along their hair journeys, according to a press release from the company. The retail shop is designed to be a one-stop shop for everything hair related—from extensions to wig products.

“Our partnership with Walmart not only allows Mayvenn to expand, but also gives women of color the opportunity to have a curated shopping experience, which isn’t always easy to find,” Diishan Imira, founder and CEO of Mayvenn said in the press release. “Mayvenn also prides itself on supporting other Black businesses by driving revenue to hair stylists, so this store has the potential to help more entrepreneurs in the area.”

The shop also offers a variety of services including connecting customers to qualified stylists in the area.
