Updated 8:05 a.m. Aug. 31 Katy ISD announced Thursday it would begin minimizing shelter operations at Cinco Ranch High School, 3440 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Katy, in order to prepare for classes on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The district said it is partnering with the Fellowship at Cinco Ranch, 22765 Westheimer Parkway, Katy, to assist people still in need of shelter. KISD's two information hotlines also remain open Thursday: 281-396-2368 and 281-396-2363. Updated 2 p.m. Aug. 30 Tropical Storm Harvey moved on from the Greater Houston area Wednesday and made its way east to Louisiana. But recovery efforts are under way in the Katy area, where schools, businesses and churches are acting as shelters for displaced residents. Here is a list of open shelters with availability as of 1:52 p.m. Aug. 30, although the public is encouraged to call ahead before arrival to check space, volunteering needs or desired donate items. Additionally, Katy ISD's shelters at Cinco Ranch High School, 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Katy, and Morton Ranch High School, 21000 Franz Road, Katy, were consolidated into one location at Cinco Ranch High. But residents may still take home food, clothes, blankets and other donated items as needed until 3 p.m.
