Katy ISD Council of Parent-Teacher Associations President Georgia Strickland provided a membership update to the board of trustees at its May 20 work-study meeting.
The council has 30,902 members, an increase since a sign stating the organization had 30,800 members was printed about two weeks ago, Strickland said.
“We still are the largest council in Texas, so we love to brag about that,” Strickland said. “And to add to [those] ... bragging rights, we also have—we do have—the largest campus [with] the largest PTA in Texas—that's Seven Lakes High School.”
The KISD Council of PTAs supports campus PTAs through training and guidance, according to its website. It also acts as a liaison between individual campuses, district administration and other PTAs.
“My [membership] goal was 30,000, and the fact that we went over—that is amazing,” Strickland said after the May 20 board meeting.
