Katy ISD was recently recognized for its efforts to expand Advanced Placement program courses that allow high school students to earn college credit. On April 25, KISD was presented with an award from the College Board as the AP Large District of the Year, according to a press release. The district led the county for expanding accesses to the courses and improving scores on the tests. According to the release, not only did the number of AP courses offered increase by 20 percent between 2017 and 2018, but also the number of students who took an AP exam jumped 25 percent. Additionally, 77.4 percent of the AP exams taken by KISD students earned a passing grade of a 3 or higher. “To be recognized at the national level is such an honor for Katy ISD,” Superintendent Ken Gregorski said in the release. “This recognition speaks to the District’s educational excellence, the hard work taking place in our classrooms and the commitment of each and every one of our staff members to create a bright future for our students.”
