Several chain restaurants opened locations in Katy and Fulshear over the past month, including Raising Canes and Torchy’s Tacos.   1. Main Squeeze Juice Co. opened Feb. 14 at 6825 S. Fry Road, Ste. 100, Katy. The Louisiana-based juice bar serves nutritionist-designed cold-pressed juices and smoothies. No ice is used in the smoothies. 281-394-4998. www.facebook.com/msjckaty


2. Raising Cane’s opened a new location Feb. 20 at 6717 FM 1463, Katy. The fast-food franchise is known for its chicken finger baskets and french fries. 281-574-2126. www.raisingcanes.com

3. Torchy’s Tacos opened a new location March 13 at 19111 I-10, Ste. 100. The taco chain operates locations across Texas and has expanded into Colorado and Oklahoma. 4. U-Maki Sushi Burrito will open a new location in April at 98 W. Grand Parkway S., Katy, in the Grand Crossings shopping center. The company opened its first restaurant in Houston in June and sells burritos, salads and bowls made with sushi ingredients. Options include salmon, crawfish, tuna, chicken and tofu, among other items. www.u-maki.com

5. Mockingbird Mexican Restaurant will open in the spring at 29615 FM 1093, Fulshear. The restaurant offers traditional Mexican cuisine, including tacos, fajitas and sides. A full bar is also planned. This is the third restaurant for owner Jeff Heil, who moved to the Katy area from Chicago in late 2016. 281-346-8196. www.mockingbirdmexican.com

6. The Pho Shack is opening a Katy location in late July, near the southwest corner of I-10 and the Grand Parkway at 23523 I-10, Katy. Owner Danh Le has another location in Sugar Land near the Grand Parkway and Hwy. 90. The restaurant’s menu includes meat and vegetarian pho, fried rice, short ribs and chargrilled rolls, among other items. www.thephoshack.com

7. The Rouxpour restaurant and bar, a concept by Mack McDonald and Lincoln Ward, will open a location in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch at 2643 Commercial Center Blvd., Katy, in the spring.
