Community Impact Newspaper spoke to some of the several Katy area restaurants that contributed to relief efforts during and after Tropical Storm Harvey.

What they serve: With locations throughout the Greater Houston area, the restaurant chain serves breakfast and street tacos, nachos, quesadillas, burritos and other items.

How they helped: At Tacos A Go Go’s Katy location, General Manager Eric Lo said some meals were provided for the Willowfork Fire Department, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, Houston Methodist West Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus.

The restaurant also brought meals to a shelter at Cinco Ranch High School, and to The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch church. Lo estimated up to about 700 meals were provided throughout the storm.

“Honestly, in my opinion we opened the restaurant to serve the community,” Lo said.

He added he felt this was important when area grocery stores were closed or running low on supplies. Meals were also brought to families in flooded neighborhoods, he said.
