The upcoming Sunterra development in Katy will soon be home to a 3.5-acre Crystal Lagoons amenity, featuring several beaches, an island, a clubhouse and a pool overlooking the lagoon.

Construction is expected to begin on the lagoon before the end of the year on the property owned by developer Land Tejas along Clay and Pitts roads.

“This will be the only place in Katy where you’ll have the turquoise blue waters and white sand beach experience within walking distance from your home or a short ride on your golf cart or bicycle using our 12-foot GreenBoLT trail,” Lagoon Development Co. CEO Uri Man said in a press release.

Residents will be able to kayak, sail, stand-up paddleboard or take a yoga class on the water at the lagoon, which will be the size of four NFL football fields, according to the release.

The lagoon will be part of the first phase of the Sunterra development, which will include more than 870 home sites, many of which bordering community lakes. Sunterra will feature approximately 2,200 homes when complete.

The lagoon will be the fourth in the Greater Houston area. Land Tejas opened the first Crystal Lagoon in Humble’s Balmoral community in 2018, followed by another this year in Texas City’s Lago Mar. A third is under construction in Sierra Vista along Hwy. 288.

“The lagoon development is already underway and is part of the first phase of Sunterra Katy,” Man said in the release. “The new lagoon design is unique and will bring residents the tropical paradise we are famous for.”
