The YMCA of Greater Houston announced plans for massive hiring on Nov. 29 for its new $12 million, 41,000-square-foot YMCA at Katy Main Street, which is set to open Feb. 1.

The organization will host a job fair Dec. 2-3  at The Fellowship, located at 22765 Westheimer Parkway, Katy, in an effort to fill 130 full- and part-time positions.

The event will run from 3-8 p.m. on Dec. 2 and from 1:30-6 p.m. on Dec. 3. Job openings are available in a variety of departments, including membership, healthy living, aquatics, group exercise, personal training, wellness, childcare and welcome desk.

"We are very much looking forward to the opening of the new 'Y' in Katy in February, and part of that happiness is attributed to the fact that we know we're going to be able to employ more than 100 people to work at that 'Y," said Heather Saucier, the director of media relations for the YMCA of Greater Houston. "[We are] really looking forward to being there for the community and also happy about the opportunity to offer jobs to people who are qualified and who need them."

Group exercise instructor auditions will also be conducted as part of the job fair. Auditions will be held on both days from 1:30-6 p.m. at the Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch, located at 22807 Westheimer Parkway, Katy.
